Food for thought: Putting the spotlight on food waste
Food waste is estimated to cost the Australian economy $20 billion each year, with households accounting for 50% of this waste. This waste has significant impacts on the environment through the wasted use of resources such as land, water, energy and fuel to produce and distribute food. When disposed of in landfill, food waste has other environmental impacts such as the production of greenhouse gas emissions.

Food Fighter has a clear and simple message for us all: plan your food shopping, buy only what you need, store it properly and make sure you use it. Research shows good habits such as these can save families thousands of dollars a year.
